Hormel Recalls Dinty Moore Beef Stew in Montana
If you’re in Montana and have a few cans of Dinty Moore Beef Stew in your pantry, it’s time for a quick label check.
Hormel Foods Corporation has issued a recall on about 256,185 pounds of canned beef stew because some cans may contain pieces of wood. Here’s what you need to know to keep your kitchen safe.
What’s Being Recalled?
The affected product is 20-ounce cans of Dinty Moore Beef Stew with a “Best by Feb 2028” date and lot code “T02045” (sometimes with an extra number at the end).
The can will also have an establishment number “EST 199G” printed on it. These cans were produced on February 4, 2025, and shipped nationwide, including Montana stores.
Why the Recall?
Hormel notified the USDA after receiving three complaints from customers who found pieces of wood in their stew. While no injuries have been reported, the USDA warns that foreign objects like wood can cause mouth injuries or choking hazards.
