If you’re anything like most people, a good scoop of ice cream is one of life’s little joys, especially after a long day.

But here’s a heads-up: Wells Enterprises, the company behind Blue Bunny and Halo Top, has recalled nearly 18,000 tubs of ice cream and frozen yogurt across the country because some might contain bits of plastic. Not exactly what you want in your sweet treat!

Ice Cream Recall Details

Wells Enterprises announced a voluntary recall for 17,866 containers sold nationwide. The affected products come in big 3-gallon tubs and include 22 flavors, everything from Rocky Road to Vanilla Bean. The tubs have "Best If Used By" dates stretching from March to October 2026.

Should Montanans Worry?

The FDA classifies this as a Class II recall. That means if you accidentally eat some of this ice cream with plastic bits, it could cause temporary or mild health issues, but serious problems are very unlikely. The good news? So far, no injuries or complaints have been reported. Still, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Which Flavors Are Affected?

Some favorites are on the list, including:
• Rocky Road
• Mocha Almond Fudge
• Peanut Butter 'N Fudge
• Various Vanilla flavors
• Cotton Candy
• Scooper Hero

If any of these are in your freezer, check the tub’s UPC code and the “Best If Used By” date carefully against the list of recalled products per the FDA website. The FDA and Wells recommend not eating these tubs if they match.

What Should You Do If You Have Recalled Ice Cream?

Wells Enterprises hasn’t put out detailed instructions yet, but their website encourages customers with questions or concerns to reach out through a contact form. The safest bet? Don’t eat the ice cream if you think it’s part of the recall, and toss it or return it if possible.
