The Powerful Wreaths Across America Event Billings Is Invited To Experience
Every December, our family bundles up and sets aside time to honor Veterans by placing wreaths on their graves. It’s something we’ve done for our son John’s entire life, and it has become one of the most meaningful traditions we share. This year, we’d love for you to join us as we take part in the ceremony at the Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel.
On Saturday, December 13, at 10 a.m., we’ll be placing wreaths as part of Wreaths Across America. If you’re in the Billings area and looking for a way to honor those who served, or you want to show your kids what gratitude looks like in action, this is a beautiful way to do it.
Why These Wreaths Mean More Than You Might Think
I come from a military family, so this tradition hits straight at the heart for me. Every year, as we walk between the headstones, I can’t help but think about the sacrifices made by the men and women who rest there. Their stories, their bravery, their families… it’s not something I ever want my son to overlook, which is why we participate in Wreaths Across America every year. Placing a wreath isn’t just a gesture. It’s a moment to say, “We remember you and we’re grateful.”
What Wreaths Across America Is All About
Wreaths Across America is a nationwide effort to honor Veterans by placing balsam wreaths on their graves during the holiday season. The mission is simple: remember our fallen heroes, honor those who served, and teach the next generation about the cost of freedom. It’s a quiet, powerful experience that stays with you long after you leave the cemetery.
How to Take Part in This Year’s Ceremony
If you’re planning to join us on December 13 at 10 a.m., you can sign up ahead of time so that organizers have a sense of how many volunteers to expect. It’s not required, but it really helps the event coordinators. To sign up, visit this page and click on the blue button at the top of the screen that reads, "Volunteer." Note that the page says the event is at 12 p.m., but it's really at 10 a.m.
Maybe you can’t make it that day, but you still want to be part of the mission. You can sponsor a wreath by visiting this website, and it will be placed in your honor or in memory of someone you love. It’s a simple gesture that carries so much meaning.
What to Know Before You Head Out
If you’ve ever been to Laurel in December, you know how the wind can hit at the Yellowstone National Cemetery. Dress warmly. Hats, gloves, layers, whatever keeps you comfortable. The event goes quickly, but trust me, the wind can bite.

Come Be Part of Something Meaningful
This tradition has shaped our family in such a powerful way, and we hope that you and your family will join us this year. Whether you come with friends, kids, coworkers, or just yourself, you’ll walk away feeling connected to something bigger.
I truly hope you’ll join us on December 13 as we honor the heroes who gave us so much.
