When I became a mom at 35, I expected the sleepless nights, the overflowing love, the chaos. What I didn’t expect was the weight, both physical and emotional, that would come with it and never leave.

Ten years later, the baby weight is still here, hanging on like it pays rent, and it has worn me down. I’ve tried all the diets. I’ve worked out until my body ached. I’ve eaten “clean,” counted calories, and done cleanses. And yet, nothing has changed.

Feeling Judged and Defeated

Every doctor’s appointment was the same. “Talk to a dietitian.” “You should move more.” “Have you considered a personal trainer?” And each time I walked out of the office, I felt smaller emotionally, even as my body stayed the same.

It felt like I was being blamed for something I was already ashamed of. I was doing everything I was told to do, but my body wasn’t listening.

As if the weight wasn’t enough, stress walked in and brought friends, insomnia, mood swings, and the rollercoaster of peri-menopause. I started to believe the lie that I’d always be the chunky mom. That I’d always be judged. That when people saw me, they wouldn’t see my heart, they’d see my size.

I feared my weight would shorten my life and rob my son of his mother. The hopelessness was heavy. I felt like a failure.

The Day I Met Carissa

Then, I met Carissa at WanderLuxe in Billings. She’s a board-certified Nurse Practitioner, and the moment we started talking, I knew she saw me, not just my weight, but me. I told her everything: how nothing was working, how much I hated my body, how terrified I was of dying too soon.

And she didn’t blink. She didn’t judge. She just said, “We’re going to get through this. Together.

Carissa told me what nobody else ever had: sometimes, our bodies need a little help - they need a jumpstart like a dead car battery. And, there’s no shame in turning to weight loss medication for that jolt to get the engine going.

At WanderLuxe, they blend anti-aging, weight loss, and functional medicine into care that’s tailored to you. No cookie-cutter plans. No judgment. Just kindness, compassion, and solutions.

I’m Just Getting Started

You’ve seen the before-and-after photos that don’t even look real. Let me be clear: I’m real. I’m a wife. I’m a mom. I live in Billings. I’m five feet tall and shaped like a Weeble Wobble.

I’m not ready to share my weight (and you get why), but I am sharing a photo of how I look now. It's scary putting it all out there, but I want you to see me exactly as I am-flaws, rolls, hope, and all.

In a few months, I’ll check back in and let you know how things are going, maybe with a new photo, maybe with a breakthrough. My hope is that this journey helps me shed more than pounds. I want to shed the shame, the fear, the idea that I don’t deserve to feel beautiful and alive in my own body.

If You’re Feeling Stuck, You’re Not Alone

If you’re sitting there, exhausted, frustrated, and fed up with your weight not budging no matter what you try, I see you. And I want you to know: it’s okay to ask for help.

WanderLuxe is ready to support you like they’re supporting me. If you’ve got questions you’re afraid to say out loud, email me. I’ll ask for you. I’ll find the answers. You just need to get started.

I’m telling myself this every day: if I don’t put myself first now, I never will. Life will always be busy, always full of reasons to wait. But we deserve to feel good. We deserve to feel strong and confident and alive. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it. Let’s do this together. Start at wanderluxemt.net.
