Is This Really the Ultimate Burger Destination in Billings?

As a family, we typically enjoy meals at home and rarely venture out, but my husband, son, and I all have birthdays within a week of each other, and we celebrated with special meals this year.

Instead of exchanging gifts, we usually take a long weekend trip to celebrate. However, due to life totally life-ing (if you know, you know) this last year, we weren’t able to go on our yearly trip, so out we went to treat ourselves to a special meal at a local restaurant on each of our birthdays.

A Three-Birthday Tour of Billings’ Best Eats

On my birthday, we enjoyed a delicious late breakfast at Bernie's. My husband, always up for a challenge, opted to tackle the Monster Cakes pancake challenge at Stella's for his birthday, and when our son's birthday came around, he decided that he wanted to give the highly recommended Burger Dive a try.

We’d heard from numerous friends about Burger Dive being the best place in Billings, perhaps even in all of the U.S., to snag a delicious burger, but we couldn't just take their word for it - we had to sink our teeth into a burger to decide for ourselves. And, after indulging in our meals, we can say that the Burger Dive is, without a doubt, one of a kind!

The Local Couple Behind Billings’ Award-Winning Burger Joint

As it turns out, the Burger Dive isn’t just any ordinary burger joint. It's the brainchild of Brad Halsten, who’s the owner and chef. With help from his wife, Andi, Brad launched The Burger Dive in 2010. Since then, the place has amassed a dedicated following and continual acclaim.

A Trophy Case Full of Burger Bragging Rights

The accolades speak for themselves. The Burger Dive's stellar reputation led to it being crowned Billings' best burger in 2011, 2014, 2015, and 2016. As if local adoration wasn't enough, national recognition came in the form of being selected as the best burger in Montana, not once, but twice, by Business Insider on their list of top burgers in the U.S.

But wait! That isn't even the extent of their accolades. The Burger caught the attention of renowned publications such as Food and Travel and Northwest Travel magazines, both heralding it as the best burger in Billings.

Brad was invited to participate in the Burger Bash at the 2014 Food Network Cooking Channel South Beach Wine and Food Festival, which led to The Burger Dive clinching the prestigious Best of the Bash award, propelling their burger to national acclaim via Red Robin. This incredible achievement also led to Brad receiving an invitation to judge the Best of the Bash Award for Red Robin at the 2016 Burger Bash.

The Burger Dive has also been spotlighted in the zoological arena. Its victory in the Zoofari competition in Billings secured its qualification for the 2016 World Food Championships, where it emerged triumphant as the 'Burger Champion.'
