Rimrock Mall in Billings was evacuated during the early afternoon hours of Friday, May 29, after a bomb threat triggered a significant law enforcement response. Shoppers and employees were cleared from the building before police were even notified of the situation, according to the Billings Police Department.

Police Actively Searching the Mall

Officers arrived on scene and immediately began a thorough search of the property. Police have not confirmed whether any suspicious items have been located, and details about how the threat was received have not been released.

Investigators are working to assess the credibility of the threat and ensure public safety before the mall is allowed to reopen.

Similar Threats Reported Across Montana

Rimrock Mall is not the only location targeted on Friday. The Billings Police Department confirmed that multiple other malls across Montana received similar threats. It is not yet known whether the incidents are connected or share a common source.

Public Asked to Stay Away From the Area

The Billings Police Department is urging residents to stay away from the mall while officers complete their work on the scene. Anyone who had planned to visit Rimrock Mall should expect restricted access and possible road congestion in the surrounding area. Authorities ask that the public give responders space to work safely and efficiently.
