This Christmas Stroll in Red Lodge Is Pure Holiday Magic
There’s something about Red Lodge in December that feels touched by a bit of old-fashioned Christmas magic. The mountains settle into their snowy blankets, the lights glow a little softer, and downtown turns into the kind of winter wonderland you’d swear only existed in holiday movies.
If your season has been missing that spark that makes everything feel just a bit more enchanted lately, the Red Lodge Christmas Stroll is the place to find it.
Two Cozy Evenings of Small-Town Christmas Cheer in Red Lodge
On Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6, 2025, downtown Red Lodge keeps its doors open late and its heart wide open to anyone ready to wander, shop, sip cocoa, and soak up the warmth of a true Montana Christmas. From 5 to 9 in the evening, the shops along Broadway welcome families with treats, twinkling lights, and more small-town charm than any stocking could hold.

The Blade Parade That Turns Snowplows Into Holiday Showstoppers
Right at 6 each night, the crowd gathers as the Blade Parade rumbles to life. There’s nothing quite like watching a line of snowplows, tractors, and cleverly decorated rigs roll down Broadway, shining brighter than any sleigh. Somehow, Red Lodge has turned snow removal equipment into Christmas magic, and it’s impossible not to cheer.
A Lantern Walk That Lights Up the Heart of Red Lodge
Both evenings begin with the Community Lantern Walk, a soft, golden procession drifting down Broadway like a river of light. Families gather at 5:15 in front of the library, lanterns in hand, and stroll together just before the parade. It’s quiet, peaceful, and beautiful in the way only small-town holiday traditions can be.
An Evening Filled With Music, Wagon Rides, and Classic Christmas Joy
When the lanterns fade and the parade passes, the night fills with music, laughter, and the sounds of Christmas. Horse-drawn wagon rides clip-clop their way through downtown from 6:30 to 8:30, carrying bundled-up families past storefronts glowing with holiday cheer. Santa waits at the Beartooth Elks to hear wish lists and greet wide-eyed kids. The Red Lodge dancers appear in shop windows, the Alte Kameraden Band plays heartwarming holiday tunes, and the Roman Theater welcomes everyone inside for free Christmas classics.
A Schedule Full of Holiday Cheer
From story time at Beartooth Books to the Messiah Chimes at The Pollard, each day is filled with cozy moments that make the Stroll feel like more than just an event - it feels like a tradition you’ll want to keep. This is the tentative schedule for this year.
Friday highlights include:
Children’s story time at 3 p.m.
Lantern Walk at 5:30 p.m.

Where the Spirit of Christmas Shines Bright
All of it happens in downtown Red Lodge, and all of it is free. There’s something truly special about watching a whole community come together under the glow of Christmas lights, sharing simple joys that feel like gifts in themselves.

If you’ve never experienced the Red Lodge Christmas Stroll, this may be the year to bundle up the family, breathe in that crisp mountain air, and step right into the magic. It’s Christmas the Montana way… warm, welcoming, and full of heart.
