If you’ve ever felt like Montana just isn’t all that into pizza, you might be onto something. A new look at Google search data found that out of all fifty states, Montana craves pizza the least. Yes, the least. While the rest of the country is typing “pizza near me” faster than they can pick a topping, we’re… apparently not all that bothered.

How Montana Stacks Up Against the Rest of the Country

Delaware sits at the very top of the list with the strongest pizza cravings. Pennsylvania and Michigan aren’t far behind, which honestly isn’t shocking considering how many college towns and sports fans those states pack in. On the flip side, South Dakota and North Dakota also join Montana at the bottom of the pizza-love scale, so at least we’re in good company.

Why Montana Might Not Be Craving Pizza

When you think about it, this actually makes sense. So much of Montana is spread out that delivery isn’t always quick or convenient. Add in a winter that sometimes feels like it lasts nine months and can close down entire stretches of highway, and grabbing a slice isn’t always as simple as picking up the phone. Sparse population, long distances, and the kind of weather that can smack you sideways all play a role in why our state doesn’t rank high for late-night pizza orders.

When America Wants Pizza the Most

Even if Montana sits low on the craving chart, the rest of the country has clear pizza “rush hours.” Big sporting events, holidays, and weekends all send search numbers soaring. Saturdays are the top day for ordering pizza nationwide. New Year’s Day is the only weekday that cracks the list because, let’s be honest, there’s nothing easier than pizza when you’re recovering from the night before. Super Bowl Monday sees the biggest demand spike from the week before. Holidays like the day after Valentine’s Day also get people reaching for comfort food. These dates all showed the strongest intent to order pizza, based on Google searches for “pizza near me.”

How America’s Strongest Pizza Cravings Were Tracked

VegasInsider analyzed a year’s worth of Google Trends data to figure out when people most desperately wanted pizza and which states were driving the cravings. They focused on searches that signaled someone was ready to eat right now, not just browsing recipes or debating toppings. The full breakdown includes state rankings, seasonal shifts, and the top days when America collectively picks up the phone and orders something cheesy.

What Montana’s Pizza Habits Say About Us

It paints a picture of who we are. We’re spread out, practical, and used to working around weather, distance, and the reality that “delivery” sometimes means you hop in the truck and get it yourself. And maybe, just maybe, we’re a little more likely to cook at home or grab a burger from the local spot down the road.
