
Montana BBQ Cook-Off in Absarokee Promises a Flavor-Packed Weekend
If you like smoky, savory BBQ and good old-fashioned fun, you’re going to really love this!
The Montana BBQ Cook-Off is back in Absarokee for its 22nd year on June 13 and 14, bringing together some of the best pitmasters and BBQ chefs from across the Western U.S. Whether you’re all about ribs, brisket, or pulled pork, this weekend promises a mouthwatering feast you won’t want to miss.
A Weekend Packed with Great Food and Live Music
This isn’t just about BBQ, the event has something for everyone. Along with BBQ vendors, you’ll find food trucks offering a variety of tasty eats, craft beer stands to keep you refreshed, and local artisan vendors showcasing unique Montana-made goods.
To keep the feeling festive, there’ll be music all weekend featuring bands like Cooper Cook, Zechariah Peabody, El Wencho, and The Repeat Offenders.
Kickoff Events and Competitions
The weekend actually starts on Thursday, June 12th, with a KCBS Certified BBQ Judge Course from 5 to 9 PM at Mainstreet Commons.
Friday, June 13th, features the popular Kids Que competition, where young BBQ enthusiasts get their chance to shine. The day wraps up with a Walleye Fry and BBQ Calcutta auction, followed by a dance party with Zechariah Peabody at The Five Spot.
Main Event on Saturday
Saturday is where the real BBQ magic happens. Starting at noon, booths, vendors, food trucks, and beer stands open up for the public. The BBQ competition runs from noon to 2 p.m., with the chefs working their magic live.

Enjoy music by Cooper Cook during the afternoon, and from 2 to 5 p.m., savor samples from the vendors while El Wencho keeps the energy up. The BBQ awards ceremony is at 5 PM, followed by music from The Repeat Offenders until 9 p.m., and more music at The Five Spot to cap off the night.
Easy Parking and Shuttle Service
No need to worry about parking! A shuttle will run from the Absarokee High School parking lot starting at 11:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m., making it easy to get to and from the festivities.
