We Attempted Billings’ Monster Cakes Pancake Challenge – Watch What Happened!

As a food enthusiast, my husband is always up for a unique dining experience, and trying the Monster Cakes Pancake Challenge at Stella's Kitchen and Bakery in Downtown Billings is something that had been on his radar for quite some time.

Located at 2525 1st Ave N in Billings, Stella’s has been serving traditional American breakfast and lunch for over 40 years and has been voted the Best Breakfast in Billings for 13 consecutive years.

Monster Cakes Pancake Challenge Details

The premise of the challenge seemed pretty simple - devour four massive Monster Cakes of your choice in one sitting. However, the four pancakes weigh a total of 3.25 pounds and are a substantial 9" in diameter with a thickness of 1/2" each.

My husband had the option to choose between buttermilk, wheat, or gluten-free (with an upcharge). The price for the challenge stood at $14.00 (keep in mind this is subject to change). Could he conquer this culinary feat?

‘Monster Cakes’ Pancake Challenge Experience

For months, all my husband talked about was wanting to attempt the Monster Cake challenge so for his birthday on Monday, I decided to surprise him with a literal breakfast feast at Stella's.

As the oversized pancakes arrived at our table, it was clear that they weren't just big - they were enormous! Each pancake spilled off the sides of the plate, and although we didn't bring out a ruler to measure, my husband estimated that they were about a foot in diameter – he was pretty close as we’ve since learned that each is NINE inches in diameter. With determination in his heart and an empty stomach, my husband geared up for the delicious battle ahead.

The incentive for the challenge was not just the satisfaction of conquering the monstrous servings. Successfully consuming all four Monster Cakes meant earning a free Cinnamon Roll and, of course, bragging rights.

‘Monster Cakes’ Pancake Challenge Outcome

Despite his determination, my husband finished his first pancake only to realize that he might have bitten off more than he could chew. As he started feeling full after just one pancake, he soldiered on, opting to tackle the remaining three Monster Cakes as a stack.

Cutting the pancakes into squares, my husband generously doused them in syrup and managed to eat about 2.5 to 3 pancakes (it was hard to tell exactly how many given the way he cut them up). While he didn't completely clean his plate, my husband made a respectable effort and is already strategizing for his next attempt at Stella's Monster Cake Challenge.
