Building a Legacy: Leslie Spalding's High School and College Triumphs

Before she ever stepped onto a professional course, Leslie was already making waves. As a high schooler, she became the 1986-87 Montana State Class AA High School Champion, and she didn’t stop there. After being a runner up twice, she claimed back to back titles at the Montana State Women's Amateur Championships in 1991 and 1992.

Let’s pause for a second and take that in: a woman from Billings, Montana, played on the LPGA Tour for a decade. Spalding teed it up in 215 tournaments and collected more than $600,000 in winnings. Over the course of her career, she secured seven top 10 finishes.

Career Highlights That Defined Leslie’s LPGA Run

Leslie’s LPGA career was filled with proud moments. She carded two career holes in one, shot a personal best score of 64, and landed her best finish, a tie for third, at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in 2001. But beyond the scorecards, it was her presence, consistency, and work ethic that left a lasting impression.

Life After the LPGA: Coaching and Giving Back

After stepping away from professional golf in 2005, Leslie came home and began giving back. She started teaching at Peter Yegen Golf Club in Billings and eventually became the head coach for the Montana State University Bobcat women’s golf team.
