Early Sunday morning in Billings started with a call no one ever wants to hear. Around 4:15 a.m., law enforcement and medical crews were dispatched to the 2600 block of Lake Elmo Drive after reports came in that someone had been shot and was calling out for help. When responders arrived, they found an adult man outside a home, bleeding and in urgent need of medical attention. Investigators say there’s no apparent connection between the injured man and the residence where he was found.

First Responders Work Fast to Save the Injured Man

Billings Police officers and Yellowstone County deputies acted quickly, providing first aid on the spot. Deputies applied a tourniquet and worked to stabilize the man before he was taken to the hospital for further treatment. At this point, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing his identity or any updates on his medical condition.

A Nearby Crash Raises New Questions for Investigators

While the shooting investigation was unfolding, Billings Police were also responding to a vehicle crash on Wicks Lane. Officers say the people inside that vehicle had already taken off before law enforcement arrived. It’s too early to know if the crash and the injured man are connected, but investigators are looking closely at that possibility as the pieces come together.
