Students are rappelling off the rooftops at the University of Montana in Missoula and Montana Tech in Butte. This is pretty cool to see what the Montana Army National Guard is doing on our college campuses.

After the 9/11 terror attacks, I joined Army ROTC at the University of Montana and we were able to rappel off of the buildings on campus thanks to the ROTC instructors and student cadre. It's a great way to show students how you can overcome your fears, build confidence in your team, and have a great time. It's also a great way to get ready for training like the US Army's Air Assault School which I attended one summer in college.

This is pretty cool to see how the Montana Army National Guard now apparently has their own rappelling team that they are sending out to college campuses across the state to support these events for students. What a learning experience also for these non military students to get a chance to learn a little bit about the military.

Here's what the Montana Army National Guard shared after a recent event on the UM campus:

"We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came out to our Rappelling event at the University of Montana! The turnout was incredible, and we loved seeing so many of you face your fears and take on the challenge. A special shout-out to Monte for showing us how it's done and making the event even more fun! We hope to see you all again soon for another adventure. Stay tuned!"

They also hosted recent events at MSU-Billings and Montana Tech in Butte.

Montana Army National Guard: "We had a blast demonstrating our gear and giving you a taste of what ROTC has to offer. With the new ROTC program at Montana Tech, Cadets will get to do exciting activities like rappelling, leadership training, and so much more—all while earning extra college money!"
