Did you know there is a retirement home for dogs in Billings?

We did not. Not until last week anyway, when a Pooch'z B&B volunteer named Reata Limpp reached out to us with news about a fundraiser. We're big dog lovers here on the 23rd floor at Townsquare Media, so we invited her on the show on Monday to tell us more about this fantastic organization and their upcoming dog (and human) costume contest fundraiser.

Founded in 2020, they're all about old dogs.

A registered 501(3)c, Pooch'z B&B is a special place for old dogs that no longer have a home. We host Wet Nose Wednesdays with Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter and it always breaks our hearts when the featured pet is an older dog because they're often hard to adopt out. Sadly, most people don't seem to want an old dog who may not have many years left or they don't want to deal with the medical issues that often arise in a canine's latter years.

Filling a need in the Billings community.

The senior dogs at Pooch'z may arrive at the home-based dog B&B for various reasons. Perhaps an elderly relative is overwhelmed and can no longer care for their pet properly. Maybe the dog's owner passed away and family members can't take on the responsibilities for the dog that was left behind. Perhaps the dog wasn't adoptable by traditional means. Whatever the reason, this "retirement home" for dogs is a loving option for those old dogs.
