Billings' 2nd annual Sunflower Festival is September 13 - 14, 2024.

Everything is better with flowers, especially the always-cheery sunflower. Native to North America, this bright bloom is the featured attraction at Billings' second annual Sunflower Festival.

This morning on our radio show we caught up with Aubrey Hopkins, founder of Sun & Celosia and the woman behind the stunning sunflower field. Hopkins wasn't sure what to expect when she started the West End sunflower field in 2023.

Public response to the first event was overwhelming, with approximately 5,000 attendees. This year, Hopkins expects even bigger crowds during the photogenic, two-day event.

Live music, food trucks, and thousands of sunflowers.

Hopkins hand-planted 6,000 sunflowers this spring on the plot of land at 1122 Shiloh Road (just south of Grand Avenue). She prefers a strain called Gold Rush, which grows into multiple blooms from just one plant, versus some of the giant sunflower varieties that only produce one huge flower per plant.

Friday, September 13 from 12 pm to 8 pm.

Food trucks at the Sunflower Festival on Friday include Sweet Tooth, Rudy's Italian Ice, Sip Soda Trailer, Happy Tummy Kusina, Taste's So Good, Let's Get Fresh, Mr. Taco, and Montana Popcorn Company.

Live music on Friday is the Jeff Troxel Trio from 6 - 8 pm.
