Bon Jovi, arguably one of the biggest rock bands of the last 40 years, came to Montana only once. They came in 1985 and opened for Ratt at MetraPark in Billings.

At the time, Bon Jovi had not quite become superstars. Their 1985 album 7800 Farenheight peaked at #37 in the US and failed to deliver any hit singles.

A year later, things changed for Bon Jovi in a big way when the band released Slippery When Wet. The 1986 album produced the band's biggest hits. Including the favorites we still love today, like You Give Love a Bad Name, Livin on a Prayer, and Wanted Dead or Alive.

Slippery When Wet went on to sell a gazillion copies (15x Platinum). It was #1 on the Billboard chart for 8 weeks and is among the Top 100 best-selling albums of all time.

The odds of Bon Jovi ever playing Montana again... are slim.

The band still sells out major venues, having just wrapped up its 2026 Forever Tour with two nights at Wembley Stadium. My wife and I had a chance to see Bon Jovi at the MGM in Vegas over a decade ago, and that show still ranks as one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

How about the next best thing?

Black Jacket Symphony is coming to the Alberta Bair Theater on October 27th, giving Bon Jovi fans a chance to hear Slippery When Wet, front-to-back, note-for-note, along with an impressive set of Bon Jovi's greatest hits.

Don't let the word "symphony" fool you. This is not a classical music band with cellos and French horns. No, no, my friend. BJS is composed of incredibly talented rock musicians. They'll deliver a full night of rock and roll magic.
