Buying a home is not an easy feat. It takes a lot to be able to purchase a home. It's not just the money that's involved. Buying a home takes time, patience and decisions. For some it may be the biggest purchase of their lives. Being able to purchase home a single person is that much more difficult.

More Single Women Own Homes Than Single Men

There is an interesting report from lendingtree.com, the mortgage company, that shows that single women own more homes than single men across the country. Across the country, single women own 2.1 million more homes than single men.  They have a breakdown of state by state.

The top states that have the most single women who own a home are:

Delaware- 15.34% of households are owned and occupied by single women compared to 9.45% that are owned and occupied by single men.

Three States Have More Single Men Owning Home Than Single Women

There are only three states that have a higher percentage of single men that own and occupy homes than women:

Alaska- 10.28% of households are owned and occupied by single women compared to 12.44% of households that are owned and occupied by single men.

Montana ranks at number 46 in the nation with single women home ownership, 12.21% compared to single men home ownership at 11.58%, a difference of 0.63%. Lendingtree.com used U.S. Census Bureau numbers for the report.
