Need a Buddy? Meet Billings’ Latest Wet Nose Wednesday Pet

Most dogs have a way of lighting up a room, instantly brightening your mood. Our featured Wet Nose Wednesday adoptable pet this week is no exception. Meet "Costo Sample," a one-year-old Border Collie mix.

Costco Sample is a weird name, but it makes a little more sense when you learn how it was bestowed upon her by staff at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter. You see, this happy-go-lucky pup was spotted running around as a stray for several days near Costco.

She was eventually lured in with treats. Sadly, no one came forward to claim her. Per the shelter's hold policy, after so many days, stray dogs are sent to the adoption floor.

Smart, playful, happy... but no cats, please.

Costco Sample is a medium-sized girl who weighs 36 pounds. She's a touch on the thin side, IMO (probably from being on the run for a week), and has pretty markings with a soft coat.

She'll likely do well with other dogs and respectful children, but cats are a no-go. Costco Sample handles well on a leash, and she loved the car ride, said Derek Wulf, Humane Outreach Coordinator at YVAS.

Come play with puppies at the Billings Public Library this Friday.

Last weekend, Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter moved to its new, semi-permanent home at 5056 Jellison Road (the road to the dump). Hours and services remain the same.

On Friday, January 16, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, YVAS will host a fun puppy event at the Billings Public Library. Staffers will be bringing several puppies to the library. Guests are invited to play with the pups, ask puppy questions, or just grab a few puppy kisses.
