FBI Director Kash Patel spent time in Billings this week, connecting with federal, state, local, and tribal leaders as part of a broader push to strengthen public safety efforts across the region. The visit was highlighted in a post from the local FBI office, which described the trip as an opportunity to build on partnerships already in place.

Focus On Public Safety In Indian Country

A major focus of the visit centered on addressing violent crime in Native communities. Officials say the director met with leaders whose jurisdictions include tribal lands, emphasizing the importance of coordination between agencies. The FBI has continued to prioritize these efforts through initiatives designed to support investigations, improve response times, and strengthen trust within communities.

Operation Not Forgotten And Ongoing Efforts

The visit also coincides with a personnel surge tied to Operation Not Forgotten, part of the broader Operation Steadfast Promise. These initiatives are aimed at increasing resources and attention on cases involving missing and murdered Indigenous people, as well as other violent crimes impacting Indian Country. The FBI says these efforts reflect a continued commitment to making communities safer.
