Warning: Costco Seafood Dish Sold In Montana May Be Contaminated
If you’re a Costco shopper, you may want to take a second look at what’s in your fridge. A new recall has been issued after a potential contamination was discovered, and while no illnesses have been reported so far, the concern is serious enough that the FDA is urging people to check their recent purchases.

Why Listeria Poses a Serious Health Risk
The recall is tied to concerns about Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness. For most healthy adults, listeria might only bring on mild, short-term symptoms like fever, stomach upset, or diarrhea. But for others, the risk is much greater. Pregnant women, young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable. In these groups, listeria can lead to life-threatening complications. While no one has gotten sick from this particular product yet, the possibility of contamination is enough to take it seriously.

What to Do if You Bought This Product
If you picked up this item during your last Costco trip, now is the time to check. Look at the dates and item number carefully. If it matches the recall information, the FDA says not to eat it. Instead, you can return it to Costco for a refund or dispose of it right away. Even if you’re unsure, it’s best to play it safe. And if you or a family member already ate some and start feeling unwell, especially if you fall into a higher-risk group, reach out to a healthcare provider.

Green Onions at the Center of the Recall
The issue started when the supplier of the green onions used in the dish notified the company that one of their samples tested positive for listeria. Those onions were used in a specific batch of the product, which is why the recall is limited to items with the September 18 pack date and September 22 sell by date. Western United Fish Company, which produces the dish, is working with the FDA to make sure it’s pulled from shelves and to prevent future problems.
