Billings Pop-Up Workshop Lets You Preserve Peaches Like a Pro
What happens when life gives you a whole bunch of peaches? If you’re Erin Gregory, Yellowstone County’s Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, you turn them into a golden opportunity to teach the community something sweet and useful. Thanks to a generous donation of fresh, juicy peaches, Erin and the team are inviting you to a one-of-a-kind, hands-on workshop this Friday, July 11.
Pop-Up Peach Preservation Workshop Details
It’s called Just Peachy: A Pop-Up Peach Preservation Workshop, and it’s happening from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fortin Culinary Center of the Billings Food Bank. This isn’t your average cooking class, it’s an interactive experience where you’ll actually roll up your sleeves and get to work with peaches from start to finish.
What You'll Learn
During the workshop, you’ll learn how to:
- Blanch
- Peel
- Pit
- Puree
- Freeze

All using methods that are both freezer-friendly and space-saving, perfect for anyone trying to cut back on food waste or stock up on home-preserved produce.
Take Some, Share Some
Here’s the really sweet part: the peaches you preserve are yours to take home. Or, if you’re feeling generous, you can donate them back to Extension for use in future classes like canning and jam-making this fall. Either way, you’ll be putting your new skills to good use.
Important Note: Not for Sale
To be clear, this isn’t a peach giveaway or sale. These peaches are reserved strictly for educational use, either by you at home or in future Extension programs.
Reserve Your Spot Now
Class size is limited to keep things safe and hands-on, especially with the use of boiling water and other kitchen equipment. So if you’re interested, don’t wait. Call Erin Gregory at 406-256-2828 to reserve your spot.

Let’s Make It Just Peachy
This workshop is more than just a chance to learn some kitchen skills. It’s a way to fight food waste, gain confidence in food preservation, and connect with others in the community, all while working with one of summer’s sweetest fruits. Come make something delicious happen this Friday!
