Easter is coming up fast this year. It falls on Sunday, April 5, and if you have kids, you already know what that means... it’s almost time for Easter egg hunts.

Every year, local businesses and organizations around Billings step up to host egg hunts for families, and they’re some of my favorite community events of the whole year.

That Look on Their Face When the Hunt Begins

If you’ve ever watched a group of kids take off sprinting across a field, baskets swinging, you know exactly what I mean. The excitement is instant. The competition is very real. And the candy payoff? Usually pretty impressive.

As a mom, I’ve always loved taking my son to these. There’s something really special about watching him race around trying to find as many eggs as possible, proudly showing off his haul, and somehow ending up with grass stains and a huge smile by the end of it.  Those are the little moments that stick with you.

Egg Hunts Are Also the First Real Sign of Spring

Beyond the eggs and candy, these events feel like the moment spring actually arrives, even if the weather doesn't always agree. Families are outside again, kids are laughing, and the whole community comes together for something simple and fun.

It doesn’t take much. A basket, some colorful eggs, and a patch of land to run around on, that’s usually all kids need to have the time of their lives.
