If you’ve found yourself stretching out a walk, keeping the windows open a little longer, or looking for any excuse to be outside lately, you’re not alone. Billings has been enjoying one of those little gifts that makes you want to hold onto fall for as long as possible.

After Monday’s record warmth, the city is settling into several more days of sunshine, dry conditions, and temperatures that are far warmer than we usually expect in October. Billings was among the communities that set a record high on Monday, and it's been the kind of weather that makes it easy to forget we’re well into fall, at least for a little while.

Billings Weather Stays Warm and Sunny Through Friday

Wednesday is expected to bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 74 degrees in Billings. Thursday should stay warm and dry, with temperatures climbing into the 70s and possibly near 80.

Then comes Friday, which could be the warmest day of the stretch. Forecasters expect widespread highs in the lower to middle 80s ahead of the approaching cold front.

That means there's still time to take the dogs for an extra-long walk, get in those last-minute yard projects done, or simply sit outside with your coffee and enjoy the sunshine.

A Billings Cold Front Will Bring a Big Weekend Change

The warm stretch will not last forever, though.

A stronger cold front is expected to move through late Friday night into Saturday, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures. Rain is possible over the weekend, while the mountains could see snow. Forecasts also indicate wet snow could reach lower elevations, including Billings, as colder air settles in.

By Sunday, daytime highs could be much colder than what we have been enjoying this week, with temperatures potentially falling into the 40s.
