If you haven’t checked out the CO+LAB at the Billings Public Library yet, now’s the perfect time to see what all the buzz is about. The all ages makerspace is officially celebrating its first birthday, and the library is inviting the entire community to join the celebration this Saturday, October 18th from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

A Year of Creativity and Community

In just one year, the CO+LAB has become a hub for curious minds of all ages. From 3D printers and laser engravers to a full demonstration kitchen and podcasting gear, the space has made incredible technology accessible to anyone who wants to learn. It’s not just “look but don’t touch,” people are actually using it. Over 1,078 people have attended 216 hands on programs, earning a total of 1,101 certification badges along the way. Outside of classes, the equipment has been used 428 times by creators bringing ideas to life.

You Can Even Take the Tech Home

One of the coolest parts about the CO+LAB is that the creativity doesn’t stop at the library doors. People have been able to check out equipment like 3D printers and podcast kits to continue projects at home. Whether you’re tinkering, inventing, cooking, filming, or just trying something new, this space is designed to help you explore without barriers.

What to Expect at the Birthday Celebration

The anniversary party won’t be just speeches and cake (though there will be treats!). Library staff will be showcasing some of the most popular equipment, giving sneak peeks at upcoming programs and new CO+LAB2GO kits, and inviting guests to try birthday themed crafts. If you’ve been curious but didn’t know where to start, this is your chance to walk in, look around, and ask questions without pressure.

Your Voice Can Shape What Comes Next

Already a CO+LAB regular? The library wants your feedback. Creators are encouraged to take the online CO+LAB survey to help shape the future of the space and influence what tools and programs come next.
