150 Miles of Garage Sale Heaven is Headed to Southeast Montana
If your perfect weekend includes coffee in one hand and a new to you treasure in the other, then make sure to mark August 8 through 10, 2025 on your calendar. Treasures on the Prairie is back for its second year, and it’s shaping up to be even bigger and better.
This isn’t just any garage sale, it’s 150 miles of nonstop deals, stretching across Southeast Montana through Hysham, Forsyth, Rosebud, Miles City, Terry, Fallon, and Glendive.
So, What’s It Like?
Imagine hopping in the car with your favorite road trip playlist and spending the day meandering through small towns, checking out yard after yard of everything from antiques and collectibles to tools, clothes, toys, and who knows what else.
People come from all over Montana and nearby states just to shop this sale. It’s not uncommon to see people pulling trailers or loading up SUVs with their finds. But whether you’re a serious collector or just in it for the fun, there’s something for everyone along the route.
It’s a Whole Experience, Not Just a Sale
One of the best parts? This isn’t just a quick stop and shop situation. Many people make a weekend of it, booking local hotels, grabbing meals at diners and food trucks, and wandering through areas they might not have otherwise discovered.
There’s even a downloadable Treasures on the Prairie Guidebook that you can buy for just $10. It maps out all the garage sales along the route so you can plan your stops and make the most of your trip.
Keep an Eye Out for Hot Pink Signs
As you’re exploring, watch for hot pink signs in shop windows, these are businesses that are officially part of the garage sale route and listed in the guidebook. Some of them will even have their own sales or special deals happening just for the weekend.
Something for Everyone (Even Non-Shoppers)
Not a hardcore garage sale person? You’ll still find something to enjoy. Many communities plan bake sales, food stands, and fundraisers that go right alongside the sales. Grab a homemade cinnamon roll, sip some lemonade, or support a local cause while you explore.
Fuel Up, Hit the Road, and Let the Deals Begin
Whether you’re after vintage finds, gently used clothes for the kids, quirky home décor, or just looking for a fun and affordable weekend adventure, Treasures on the Prairie is the place to be.
Start in one town and see how far you make it, or plan your whole route in advance with the guidebook. However you do it, you’re bound to come home with a car full of goodies and some great stories to tell.

Garage sale season doesn’t get better than this so come see what treasures are waiting for you on the prairie!
